About The Pull Request

This came up in a discussion I had with ruko and bacon, and it sounded fun. So here goes:

  • Adjusted security belt slots to 5
  • Removed most starting gear except for cuffs, taser, and baton from the belt
  • Since there is now space, moved the magazine and taser cartridge they spawn with into the belt, filling it up fully.
  • The webbing has been altered to not allow large items inside such as batons.
  • Tasers were made smaller(why were they as big as a baton?) so they can fit into webbings.
  • Webbings have had their maximum slot count increased.
  • Some general loadout changes as well as minor tweaks to item sizes occurred due to these alterations.

Now the webbing has more slots and can be used to hold a lot of small stuff, as opposed to the belt which has less slots than it but can hold bigger things.

Why It's Good For The Game

These changes aim to provide a more balanced and logical distribution of equipment for security personnel, making their roles more effective and enjoyable.

It also fixes inconsistencies, like the taser and it's ammo being weirdly huge.

Changelog

🆑
balance: Rebalanced security loadouts. Security belts now have adjusted item spawns and storage capacities.
balance: Moved the backpack magazine and taser cartridge into their belts whenever feasable.
tweak: Modified the weight class of taser cartridges and taser itself.
/:cl:

Reconfigures security belts to have more sensible starting equipment.

Adjusts starting equipment for security roles by removing items from backpacks and directly equipping them on the belt.

Tweaks taser stats to have a more appropriate weight class.

Tasers were as big as batons because they're a gun and guns are intended to be big and bulky to carry. The smallest sized guns in the game fit in backpacks but take up significant amounts of space.

Isn't this still a big nerf to.. how many things security can carry which is a major issue with the sword?

I've always been a fan of having the flash/flashbang/pepperspray as non-lethal equipment for detainment, i'm not too sure if i like this, though being able to put other stuff in the belt helps a bit.

Regardless i feel like the pepperspray needs to be added to the vendor then otherwise it's sorta soft removed? Or i'm tweaking, anyways it's a classic non-lethal tool and maybe some prices needs to be tweaked, the last PR that touched it made it so you cannot even buy 2 cuffs+item random that you're pretty much poor. The current payment in credits feels like you can barely afford anything and there are times where equipment is needed urgently.

Mixed feelings overall.

if it's not part of the vendor it should 100% be added to it. I'll look at that tomorrow

Agreed on adding the removed items to vendor that aren't available.

This is not a big nerf no.

The only thing this PR does which is a nerf is reduce belt capacity back to 5, which if you take a sword is moot anyway right now because you don't get a sec belt with a sword.

The items removed from the belt should still be roundstart available to the player and still fit in the belt, they just don't start there.

Fair, though i would still like some reconsideration towards the item prices, some stuff are waay to expensive when they're basic gear (like Cuffs) and you simply can't diversify at all, since armory doesn't even have some of those items and the paycheck's not enough, one of Security's strong points is adapatibility after all.

Individually officers may not start with much money, but they either start with an HoS that has a budget card or have the right to become the HoS and utilize the budget card because there isn't one.

It's not even true, sec items are super cheap compared to their paycheck especially after a recent change that made all the premium gear only cost 100

Brings taser size up to large, in line with all other guns, bring taser cartridges up to a small item. If you want webbings to hold them then let them hold all large items. If not, let it be an item for carrying more of your less important gear. I would side with allowing large items in them so that they are a direct upgrade over the belt but I don't care which direction it goes.

While I don't agree with the necessity for benefit of making any of these sec changes, I have always disliked the larger size of the belt since the new changes and how disorganised sec inventories end up looking compared to before so I would be happy to bring back the old belt/webbing behaviours.

Cuffs are expensive for what they are, if you buy a billy club and two pairs of cuffs or god forbid a seclite for the helmet you're denied a lot of variety, it's very common for officers to have an specialized tool alongside the baton for the belt roundstart, the same will remain now with the sabre.(and webbing)

Worse if you want to buy a FB or a simple holo-sign.

This of course is refering to a shift where you can't just steal extra supplies from the a adjacents lockers(and tbh it's kinda ass and rude for late arrival officers and it's not a good gameplay suggestion to just steal it lol)

I'm not sure which premium pr you're refering to but the reason i haven't seen many premium purchases was due to budget issues.

This is just nerf, I feel like the Why It's Good For The Game part if completely detached from the actual PR.

Done so!

Adjusts security belt storage and taser weight classes for balance.

Removes a redundant max specific storage definition for security belts.

Increases the taser's projectile weight class to small.

Increases the taser's weapon weight class to large.
